Our Team

We're not a big corporate clinic. We're experienced practitioners who chose to work in this beautiful part of the world because we love the community. When you visit us, you'll see a familiar face who remembers your name and your story.

Alan Johns - Principal Physiotherapist at Myall Physiotherapy

Alan Johns

Principal Physiotherapist

Hi there! I've always kept active and look forward to helping you do the same. My past includes being an avid squash player and gymnast — which is how I developed my love of stretching and keeping mobile and healthy. I am a proud father of 8 and husband of 1 amazing wife.

I have worked in private physiotherapy practice since 1990 and seen many clients from the Myall Lakes area while working in Raymond Terrace. I have focused my work around the Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest area since early 2023 and am enjoying my work more than ever.

I have completed extra study into Traditional Chinese Medicine, Mindfulness and Yoga — all of which influence my work. I have a special interest in ageing well (I'm getting older too!), with a particular focus on issues around falling and balance.

"My hobbies include mountain bike riding, yoga, camping, guitar and banjo playing, trying to sing, collecting Dad jokes, gardening, playing board games and wrestling with my growing number of grandchildren."

Chris Stoddard

Physiotherapist

I'm Chris Stoddard, a physiotherapist hailing from Newcastle, NSW. In 2013 I graduated from the University of Newcastle with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Distinction) and secured a new graduate position at a Sports and Spinal clinic in Adamstown, Newcastle.

Since then I have spent 8 years working in the premier physiotherapy practice at Raymond Terrace where I became the senior clinician for many years. During these years I completed several post-graduate qualifications in sports physiotherapy, spinal condition management and lower limb tendon issues.

In 2023 I moved away from private practice to spend a year working in the private hospital setting where I honed my skills in rehabilitating patients after joint replacement surgery and serious orthopaedic injuries.

During the 11 years I have worked in the Hunter region I have developed close working relationships with many of the surgeons and GPs in the area and as such, I now have an excellent referral network for the patients I treat.

"When I am not in the clinic you are more than likely to either find me out pounding the pavement with my two kelpies or down at the oval throwing frisbees. I enjoy reading, hiking, sport of any kind (but especially soccer, cricket and tennis) and spending quality time with friends and family."
